South African game publisher Carry1st has announced it will host an all-female Mobile Legends: Bang Bang event in Cairo, Egypt.

The 2025 edition of the Carry1st Africa Cup will officially commence on April 4th and conclude on April 26th during the Insomnia Egypt gaming festival. Registration for the event, however, is officially open.

The Africa Cup is the first in a series of esports competitions taking place across the continent throughout 2025. The event begins on April 4th with online qualifiers open to female MLBB teams across Africa. On April 10th, a qualifier exclusively for teams in Egypt will take place.

Each of the qualifiers will feature 32 teams competing in a double-elimination bracket.

Two winners from the qualifiers will compete at the Grand Final at Insomnia Egypt, taking place from April 24th to 26th in Cairo. The eventual winner will earn a place at the Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, throughout June and July.

The multi-title esports event organised by the Esports World Cup Foundation will host two MLBB competitions: the Mid-Season Cup and the Women’s Invitational.

2024’s MLBB Women’s Invitational saw 12 teams compete for a share of a $550,000 (~£426,174) prize pool. The event was won by Philippine-based esports organisation Omega Esports.

“MOONTON Games is delighted to join forces with Carry1st to extend our esports initiatives to Africa,” commented Ray Ng, Head of Esports Ecosystem at MOONTON Games.

“We are witnessing a thriving esports ecosystem across the continent and are particularly proud to be able to help talented female players from Africa make their mark on the global stage.”

Carry1st is one of the largest game publishers in Africa. In 2023, it joined forces with Riot Games to assist with the launch of VALORANT servers in South Africa.

In addition to hosting MLBB tournaments, Carry1st has also hosted events in Call of Duty: Mobile. The 2024 Carry1st Africa Cup saw six teams compete for a $10,800 (~£8,367) prize pool.
