Recent data shows that Marvel Rivals‘ esports 2025 viewership has continued to climb since the game’s launch, demonstrating its potential as a major esports competitor.

As more organisations jump into Marvel Rivals, studies are asking whether the game will continue to climb or if it’s on the verge of falling off hard.

Marvel Rivals Viewership and Player Counts are Strong

According to Steam DB Charts, concurrent player numbers have remained strong, with an all-time peak of 600,00+ users back in January 2025 when Season 1: Eternal Night Falls first Launched.

The game has seen a steady decline as we reach the latter stages of the season, but it’s anticipated to surge again when Season 2 eventually launches.

Stream Charts showcases that there are just as many players watching games as there are playing them, with Marvel Rivals ranking amongst the top ten most popular topics.

As of writing this article, it has a total watch time of nearly 8.5m hours and an average peak of 11,000 channels streaming the game. It currently outperforms games like League of Legends, Overwatch 2, and Call of Duty: Warzone on Twitch.

But how is it going on the esports side?

Marvel Rivals Esports Still Has a Ways to Go

Esports Charts show that there are currently 312 registered esports players, over 100 of which come from North America. The west in particular has seen the most of activity and success with the game.

Of the 12 events hosted this year, the largest was the Marvels Rivals segment of Twitch Rivals. It attracted a peak viewership of nearly 180,000 viewers, and offered a prize pool of $200,000, making up a third of the total purse for 2025 so far.

However, it still pales in comparison to older and more dominant esports titles. In 2025 alone, League of Legends has reached a peak viewership of nearly 2m, with its highest prize offered being $1m during this year’s First Stand.

Marvel Rivals esports shows promise, and it has already swept the floor with older titles, but it’s clear there’s still room to grow if it hopes to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the top esport giants.
