Rocket League has announced plans to replace Esports Tokens for its Esports Shop with Credits to streamline the in-game purchasing experience.

On April 22nd, the change will come into effect, making Credits the universal virtual currency for all in-game Rocket League transactions.

Rocket League’s developer Psyonix revealed the news in a press release on March 21st. Since then, Esports Tokens have no longer been available for purchase. Players who still own Esports Tokens on April 22nd will have their tokens converted to Credits.

Moreover, players will receive a slight Credits boost of 10% with the final conversation rounded up to the nearest 50. However, conversion rates of Esports Tokens to Credits may vary by country.

Previously, players had to purchase Esports Tokens as a separate virtual currency to buy RLCS Shop items. Now, all the current and upcoming features will be purchasable through Rocket League’s universal currency.

The RLCS Shop

As part of the revamp, the Esports Shop will also be renamed to the RLCS Shop on April 22nd. For the first time, the store will feature universal Decals that represent some of the teams competing in the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) 2025.

Universal decals can be equipped on any car body apart from some exceptions based on third-party IP. Additionally, fans can purchase Takeover Goal Explosions representing their favourite teams. The involved RLCS teams will be announced prior to April 22nd.

The RCLS Shop is part of Psyonix’s Rocket League revenue-sharing model, first introduced in 2019. The store offers decals and other in-game items and accessories that represent selected teams competing in the RLCS. As part of the revenue-share model, 30% of generated revenue from the item goes to the esports organisation.

As of right now, more than 30 teams are featured in the RLCS Shop, including G2 Esports, Gen.G and Team Vitality.
