Global electronics manufacturer Samsung has joined forces with game developer MOONTON Games to launch a collegiate Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) tournament.

The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Campus Series will begin in April and features local tournaments across Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

According to a release, the creation of the Campus Series aims to provide ‘a gateway for student gamers to pursue their esports aspirations’ whilst also bridging the gap between students and esports.

To support the competition, Samsung will equip students with its Galaxy S25 Ultra smartphone, which features the Vulkan engine designed to optimise and enhance gameplay.

“We believe in providing the next generation of gamers with the best technology and opportunities to help reach their full potential,” said Carl Nordenberg, VP, Regional Head of Mobile Experience, Samsung Electronics Southeast Asia and Oceania.

“Through Samsung’s Galaxy Gaming Academy Campus Series, we are not only equipping students with mobile devices, we are also creating a forum for them to develop their skills, gain experience, and expand their community.”

The Campus Series is open to students based in Southeast Asia aged 18 and over. Qualifiers commence on April 25th, 2025 and conclude on May 18th before finals for the four countries take place throughout May.

Regional Finals take place from June 20th to 22nd in Indonesia, where the teams will compete for a share of $40,000 (~£31,020) in prize money.

Samsung’s Campus Series is one of several third-party MLBB tournaments taking place this year. The MLBB Mobile Masters heads to Jakarta as part of the Snapdragon Pro Series. Meanwhile, Carry1st is hosting an all-female event featuring qualification for the Esports World Cup.
