It’s only been one week since the start of the LCK 2025 Season, yet the Korean league has already broken one of its viewership records.

According to data platform Esports Charts, the series between Korean powerhouses T1 and Gen.G hit a peak of 1.57m people, making it the most-watched match in LCK regular season history.

The match, which saw T1 and Gen.G fight neck-and-neck, including a thrilling 50-minute deciding game, shattered the previous regular season record that was held by these two teams.

The previous regular season record was 1.2m during LCK 2024 Spring Split. These two teams have been big rivals throughout the past few years, achieving a peak of 2.6m viewers during the grand final of that split, breaking the league’s all-time viewership record.

Compared to the numbers so far this year, this series is currently only second to the series between T1 and HLE in the LCK Cup 2025, which hit close to two million (1,907,634). That said, the LCK Cup is not considered part of the LCK 2025 Season.

The Power Of T1

The series continues to prove how T1 and close series are crucial drivers in increasing engagement and overall viewership. The series also happened to be mid lane legend Lee ‘Faker’ Sang Hyeok’s 12th anniversary since his debut back in 2013, making the series even more special to the viewers.

Not only does the Korean League continue to have the highest peaks among all major regions, but it also registers the highest averages. In the opening week of the LCK 2025 Season, it reached an average of nearly 380,000 viewers (387,998).

Gumayusi ended up playing in the opening week of the new season, earning MVP in the series against DRX.

In the series against Gen.G, however, the bot lane player was heavily targeted in the drafting phase, and despite dealing the most amount of damage in Game 3, he wasn’t able to take the win for his team.
