Women’s esports has gained significant attention this year, as players and teams break into the mainstream, setting historic records.
With the community’s eye on women’s esports, Esports Insider wanted to highlight the top five female esports pros to watch in 2025, in no particular order.
Ava ‘florescent’ Eugene
Canadian VALORANT player florescent has been making headlines this year as the first women athlete to be signed by a VCT team. Joining last year’s Ascension winner Apeks for the 2025 VALORANT esports season, florescent made an impressive debut at VCT EMEA Kickoff debut in January.
Prior to her time with Apeks, florescent competed in the North American Game Changers (GC) circuit, VALORANT’s esports ecosystem for women and other marginalised genders. Together with her previous team Shopify Rebellion, she won the GC Championship for two consecutive years in 2023 and 2024.
Although Apeks was eliminated from Kickoff early and did not qualify for VCT’s first international competition, Masters Bangkok, florescent will have another shot at making her mark in tier 1 VALORANT during the upcoming EMEA Stage 1.
Karnthida ‘dodonut’ Chaisrakeo
Also hailing from the VALORANT Game Changers scene, dodonut used to be the star duelist player of FlyQuest RED. This year, however, the Thai player was given the chance to fill big shoes, replacing florescent on Shopify Rebellion.
Despite such high expectations, dodonut has already proven herself, helping her new team become the first full GC roster to qualify for VALORANT’s Challengers circuit. Following an early elimination from Challengers, the team, now called Shopify Rebellion Gold, qualified for the 2025 GC Stage 1 through the Open Qualifier.
With the GC season kickoff in North America approaching in April, dodonut will have the opportunity to earn her first Championship title as part of the most successful rosters in the VALORANT women’s esports scene.
Anna ‘ANa’ Dumbravă
At the beginning of the year, star AWPer ANa made history together with her teammates on Imperial Fe. The team became the first women’s roster to qualify for an Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) event, the most prestigious competition in Counter-Strike (CS) esports.
The squad also gained large recognition from the game’s community and pro scene during its BLAST Bounty Spring 2025 Closed Qualifier. The match between Imperial Fe and NAVI recorded nearly 500,000 peak viewers, according to esports data platform Esports Charts.
After the series, NAVI’s jL commented on X (formerly Twitter): “If you still have doubts about IMPERIAL FE not belonging to the scene, you’re just a hater. They made us sweat, they shoot very strong. Put some respect on their name, they made it here fair and square, give them a couple of years, more experience and they’ll be a threat.”
ANa and her squad have won all six seasons of the ESL Impact League, which is ESL’s CS circuit for women and other marginalised genders. Imperial Fe’s many achievements earned it the ‘Women’s Team of the Year’ title at the 2024 HLTV Awards. Moreover, ANa was given the ‘Women’s Player of the Year’ award.
Vivi ‘Vivian’ Indrawaty
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) athlete Vivian was part of the Bigetron Era roster, acquired by French esports organisation Team Vitality in May last year. Vivian and her team have been at the forefront of MLBB’s growing women’s scene, winning countless titles, including the ecosystem’s largest competition, the Women’s Invitational in 2022 and 2023.
In 2023, the squad further broke records at the Southeast Asian Games. The event was followed by 1.37m peak viewers, making it the most-watched female esports event in history.
While Vitality failed to secure the Women’s Invitational title last year in the Grand Final against Omega Empress, the roster later defeated their rival to win the International Female Legends Season 2.
Moreover, in an interview for GosuGamers following the 2024 Invitational, Omega Empress player Mery ‘Meraaay’ Vivero was asked who would be the best or most memorable opponent she played against.
“Maybe the one they’re calling the G.O.A.T., Vivian of Vitality,” Meraaay responded.
Maya ‘Caltys’ Henckel
Caltys has been making a name in competitive League of Legends (LoL) since 2019, including two GIRLGAMER Esports Festival titles. Alongside Ève ‘Colomblbl’ Monvoisin, she is one the two members from G2 HEL’s initial 2022 roster.
Since then, the botlaner has helped G2 HEL grow into a dominant force within LoL women’s esports. Among the team’s numerous achievements are, both PATHFINDERS splits in 2023 and the Coupe des Étoiles last year.
G2 HEL has also competed in several iterations of the Northern League of Legends Championship (NLC). As Riot Games is reportedly launching a LoL Game Changers ecosystem for the EMEA region, it will be interesting to see if Caltys and G2 HEL can continue their legacy throughout the next stage of the game’s esports scene.
