Marvel Rivals‘ upcoming hero, Emma Frost, has had her full kit revealed ahead of Season 2’s launch on April 11th, 2025.

She will be a Vanguard class character with eight new abilities, including a new Team-Up with Magneto and Psylocke, and can disable incoming enemy ultimates.

With such a unique kit, Emma Frost could shake up current metas used in Marvel Rivals esports in a big way. Our in-depth guide explains everything you need to know about the promising new hero.

All Emma Frost Abilities Explained

Thanks to the preview event hosted by Marvel Rivals, we have official information on the new heroes’ abilities. Emma Frost will debut in Season 2: Hellfire Gala as a three-star difficulty character.

All descriptions are official in-game details, however, these may be subject to change with the official launch of Season 2.

Attacks

Name Input (PC) Description
Telepathic Pulse Mouse – Left Click Fire a psionic beam to deal damage; the longer the beam hits, the higher the damage.
Faceted Fury Mouse – Left Click In Diamond Form, deliver a crushing double-fisted strike to enemies.

Abilities

Name Input (PC) Description
Psionic Seduction (Ultimate) Q Project a forward psychic assault that stuns foes and prevents them from unleashing their Ultimate Abilities; if the effect lingers, it gradually comandeers their mind, forcing them to move toward Emma Frost.
Diamond Form L-Shift Activate Diamond Form to transform your attack style while gaining Damage Reduction and becoming Unstoppable (immune to knock back).
Carbon Crush E In Diamond Form, lunge forward to grab an enemy, then execute a back slam to inflict damage.
Psychic Spear E In regular form, seize control of an enemy’s Sentience. Damage dealt to Sentience cascades to the physical form and can be pierced by Telepathic Pulse. When the Sentience shatters, it unleashes extra damage on its owner.
Mind’s Aegis Mouse – Right Click Create a levitating barrier at the designated location
Crystal Kick Mouse – Right Click In Diamond Form, unleash a flying kick forward and knock back enemies; extra damage is dealt if they are projected into a wall.

Thanks to the Marvel Rivals patch notes released ahead of Season 2, we know that Emma Frost will serve as an anchor for Team-Ups with both Magneto and Psylocke. This ability will allow them to project illusions that mimic their movements, deal damage and copy their abilities.

Emma Frost’s barrier elevates her above others as they currently stand, such as Peni Parker, Thor and Hulk. Throughout the seasons, having a barrier Vanguard has become necessary for most compositions, especially in high-stakes events such as the Marvel Rivals Invitationals. But how will Emma Frost fit into the current meta?

We know that Emma’s Mind’s Aegis has 500 health, much weaker than Dr Strange’s 800 health shield. Not to mention that Magneto has Bulwark, which can make himself or an ally immune to CC and damage. Both tanks saw regular play in the Marvel Rivals Fight Night events, for good reason.

With that role filled, her value may instead be fulfilling an off-tank role similar to Venom or The Thing. Her Diamond Form allows her to single out targets for her team to focus on, thanks to Carbon Crush and Crystal Kick, offering similar utility as Winter Soldier and Wolverine.

Though arguably her most interesting ability is Psionic Seduction, which is designed to prevent other ultimate’s from being used. This could be crucial against top picks such as Luna Snow, Cloak & Dagger, and Mantis by removing any defence the opposing team could have.

Only time will tell if pros find it worthwhile to fit Emma Frost into the current meta, but it seems possible she could throw a wrench in some opposing teams’ plans.
